Mrs. Newman Wed. 27th

Dear Parents,
I am sorry I forgot to send home the weekly update today. Look for it tomorrow.
One of my students asked today why Early Dismissal Days felt so long. Perhaps it is partly due to an expectation that it will feel short because the kids go home at 1:30. Because we don't have a recess and the pace of the day feels so much more frantic with shorter periods, it often feels even longer than the days we finish at 3:15! I know it is tough for parents to pick up students at 1:30, but we really appreciate the time to work with our colleagues to think through tough curriculum and assessment issues. It is hard for us to do after teaching all our classes, but there is such a commitment to keep improving how we do things.
Another student asked me when there would be less work. He was feeling overwhelmed. Please let me know if you find your child doing more than an hour's work at home for about 5 times a week. There may be the odd day that is especially busy, but it should not be consistent. This is a busy time as we head toward the first report card time in a few weeks.
