I have started a "healthy snack" basket in my classroom. If students are ever starving (as they often seem to be at this age) and just do not have a healthy snack to eat, they can help themselves to something in the basket. This week I had some apples, plums, bananas, and small raisin boxes. I've mentioned that if they needed a snack one day, perhaps they could try to bring something in the next day or two to replace an item. Also, feel free to send something extra for the basket any time you would like.
After Thanksgiving, Mrs. DeBoer and I will be starting a Homework Club for Thursdays after school. It will primarily be a half hour to help those students who have a very hard time staying organized. Though some of you will receive an e-mail to ask that your child attend, feel free to encourage your child to attend if you have noticed organizational problems that we haven't yet. It can be on as "as needs" basis.

Homework:
English Lit:
Ongoing: Keep reading at least 15 minutes a day and fill out your booklist form as you go. Your Independent Reading Duotang is due on Wed. Nov. 17. Though your booklist is right now kept in your Travel Folder, you will put it in your duotang when it is full or when the duotang is due.
English Spelling and Vocab:
**Tues. Oct. 5 Test of top 5 errors of R-3 and "ped" "man" vocab review quiz
(Preview of R-3 on Monday)
English Grammar:
review the parts of speech sometime this week. Reviewing is often not on the homework board but rather is something you can do whenever you don't have many assignments to do. We've learned what nouns, pronouns and adjectives are, and this week we added verbs and adverbs.
English Writing: See Mrs. Dyck's entries
Math for Mrs. Newman: (See Mrs. Dyck's entries for Friday math)

Science:
** students should work on their imaginary creature another 20 to 30 minutes before Monday. A reminder to do a rough draft on lined paper first and then the good copy on the handout in blue or black ink. (It is also all right to word process the text.)
Socials: See Mrs. DeBoer's entries
French: I will try to put the French homework on here as far as I know it. I rely on the students to tell me, though. See Mrs. Kawa's blog if you want to be sure or get more details.

Bible(Alpha)
**Wed. Oct. 6 Please complete your Alpha Response (Personal Reflections). Use the red rubric to help you. Do this today if at all possible while the lesson is fresh in your mind.
Flex Block:
**Next Flex Block is Monday, Oct 4. Hand in your form for me to sign as soon as it is filled out and your parents have signed it. Decide on your first project, fill in a neat, detailed proposal form, get it OK'd by your parents, get it signed by me, and bring all our supplies Mondays. If you just can't get that all done, you may work on an Oops booklet, but that is not near as fun as working on what you want to do. Be creative, brainstorm with your parents.
Art:
Mrs. Memmott would appreciate a photo of you to put on your sketch book.
