Thursday, Mrs. Newman

Dear Parents,
Today the kids had the wonderful experience of voting at an official looking polling station using ballots that are just like the ones people will use on Monday. We spent some time getting to know the names of the leaders of the parties and what the official platforms are of each group. We looked at Vote Compass on the CBC website and how each of the main parties would answer each question.
The students were very excited to have their say. I look forward to hearing the results.
I hope you noticed the change in the early dismissal schedule for next month on the weekly update.

Monday Mrs. Newman

Dear Parents,
This morning students handed in their reading goals. We figured out there are 65 days until their independent reading is due. They were to figure out how many days/weeks they need to read each book to meet their goal and to put reminders in their planners. They also are to have read the book they want to do a book review on by the end of the Easter weekend. They then will have at least two days to work on the book review before it is due on the 28th. There is also ongoing science review and the best writing assignment mini-due dates as well.

Wednesday (Mrs. Newman)

Dear Parents,
It felt like an interesting and productive day today. In Alpha we finished our topic "How does God guide us?" and in science they were all busily designing switches to make their small circuits work. We will probably have enough drivers to do our dragon boat racing activity. I am still short one driver on the last Monday, but there are a few forms to come in yet. There are also quite a few students interested in training for the regatta, almost our full team. We'll see after the first lesson if we have enough students.
