A QUICK NOTE TO PARENTS:
It's great to be back!
Mrs. DeBoer and I usually have these guidelines for Valentine's Day. It's a day to promote friendship in the classroom, a chance to encourage each other. A student does not have to bring in anything at all. A student can bring in something for everyone in the class, or for all the girls in the class, or for all the boys in the class. We ask them not to bring in something for just select people in our class . This way no feels left out. They don't have to bring in exactly the same thing for everyone. I would ask you to keep the sweet stuff down to a minimum. If they have a good friend in the other class, they should feel free to bring him or her a card or a treat and not worry about the "no-one, everyone, all girls or all boys" guideline

A QUICK NOTE TO PARENTS:
Thank you for coming on Saturday to support and encourage your kids to reflect on their own work and to come up with some SMART goals, ones that are sustainable, manageable, achievable, realistic, and timely. The more you and I can encourage them to take ownership of their own learning and thus futures, the better!
I really was taken by complete surprise today by the thoughtfulness and care the students took in planning a birthday celebration for me. Thank you very much to any of you who were involved in helping this happen. It truly was lovely!
Just a reminder that I will be away after Tuesday of this week, so there will be no blog updates from me.
